Horizon Award Program schedule for Semester 1 2023 is live!

The modern workplace requires skills beyond those learned in your degree. If you want to brush up on those transferable skills, consider the wonderful range of programs, events and workshops offered by Horizon. Their 2023 Semester 1 Schedule is now live! Details in post.

Ok, so this is cool. The Horizon Award Program has announced its 2023 Semester 1 schedule of workshops and events.

For those that aren’t aware of the Horizon Awards Program, it “sits alongside of your academic studies; it is an innovative program that provides further opportunities to develop your professional skills and gain new experiences and insights that will benefit you now and in your future career.”

You can develop skills that aren’t necessarily taught as part of your degree. For example, the programs, events and workshops they deliver cover a range of topics, including effective decision making, workplace communication and language, collaboration and teamwork, critical thinking and problem solving, presentations and public speaking, networking and industry connections, conflict resolution and negotiation, innovation and creative thinking, workplace culture and etiquette, digital and data literacy, leveraging workplace diversity, and professional identity and branding.

Engaging in these activities earns you points, and those points go towards Awards that are delivered at the end of the year and/or your degree. These awards are often industry recognised, meaning various employers know that the awards signify the work you’ve done developing your professional skillset.

The workshops for Semester 1 are designed for participants to get started with Horizon or to deepen their knowledge and skills in specific areas. Some of the programs are held online, while others are on-campus in different locations such as Bedford Park, Tonsley, and Sturt. There are also opportunities to have lunch with leaders from various industries and organizations, and to attend intensive workshop days and a leadership summit.

Whether you are new to Horizon or returning, you’ll have access to a range of programs that aim to support your personal and professional growth, as well as your overall well-being. By taking advantage of these opportunities, you can enhance your knowledge, develop your skills, and improve your mental fitness in a supportive and collaborative learning environment.
