Boost your wellbeing with Forest Walks

Looking for a novel wellbeing option? Forest Walks at Bedford Park are taking place throughout Semester 1, leaving from the Oasis Community Centre. Deets in post.

Do you feel stressed, anxious, or overwhelmed by the demands of modern life? Do you wish you could find a simple and effective way to improve your mood, health, and happiness? Looking for something to break up a busy study day?

If you answered yes to any of these questions, then you might want to try Forest Walks. Forest walks, also known as forest bathing or shinrin-yoku, are a form of nature therapy that involves spending time in natural settings, such as woods, parks, or gardens.

Forest walks have been shown to have many benefits for your wellbeing, such as:

  • Reducing stress, blood pressure, and heart rate
  • Enhancing immune system function and reducing inflammation
  • Improving mood, attention, memory, and creativity
  • Increasing feelings of connection, gratitude, and joy

Sounds amazing, right? But how can you get started with Forest Walks?

One of the best places to enjoy forest walks is the Bedford Park campus of Flinders University. This campus is surrounded by scrub and pine forest land that offers stunning views, fresh air, and wildlife encounters.

You can explore this wilderness on your own, or you can join a guided forest walk led by Chaplain Dave, a friendly and experienced nature lover. Chaplain Dave will show you the best trails and help you connect with nature and yourself.

The forest walks are free and open to staff and students. All you need to do is wear appropriate footwear and clothing, bring a water bottle, and meet at Oasis, the wellbeing centre on campus.

Forest walk dates for Semester 1 are as follows:

  • 20th March
  • 24th April
  • 8th May
  • 5th June

Walks go from 11am to 12pm.

Don’t miss this opportunity to boost your wellbeing with forest walks. You’ll be amazed by how much better you’ll feel after spending some quality time in nature. See you at Oasis!
