Psychology PhD student Maya contacted me to let me (and thus you) know about a randomised controlled trial she is running testing a digital mental health app for university students experiencing body image concerns. If you’ve struggled with body image concerns, please consider looking further into participating. Details in post.
Hi everyone, I’m Maya Jabs, a Psychology PhD student at Flinders University. I’m running a study testing NourishED Mind, a digital mental health app designed specifically for university students aged 18–25 who are experiencing body image concerns.
University can be a time when body image concerns, stress, low mood, worry, and self-criticism become especially difficult to manage. This study is exploring whether brief, app-based activities, called single-session interventions, can provide students with practical support for these challenges.
The app includes short evidence-based activities focused on things like body image, self-compassion, self-worth, social media, stress, worry, and coping during difficult moments.
Who can take part:
University students aged 18–25 who are living in Australia, experiencing body image concerns, and have access to a smartphone and internet.
What’s involved:
A short eligibility screening, a baseline survey, and a 3-week study period involving weekly surveys and brief app-based activities. Participants are randomly assigned to either receive access during the study or after the study period.
What you get:
A $20 voucher after completing the final survey.
Ethics approved by Flinders University: HREC #9497.
