Last call!!! – Supercommunicators workshop 13th and 20th May

Unfortunately we have had to cancel this due to low numbers. Those who would like to do the program are still encouraged to register via this form.

We all have conversations every day – but how often do we stop to think about how we’re communicating? What makes a conversation flow, spark connection, or go deep rather than stay on the surface? And how can we get better at it?

Enter: Supercommunicators.

This two-session workshop series, inspired by Charles Duhigg’s bestselling book Supercommunicators, is designed to help you level up your communication skills in everyday life – at uni, at work, and in your personal relationships.

🗓️ Workshop Details

  • Dates: Tuesday 13th & Tuesday 20th May
  • Time: 12:00pm to 1:30pm (both sessions)
  • Location: Flinders City Campus (Room 505)
  • Facilitators: Haidee (Counsellor) and Gareth (socially awkward)
  • Snacks: Yes, absolutely. Light snacks will be provided to keep your brain and mouth fuelled.

🔍 What’s it all about?

In Supercommunicators, Duhigg explores what separates ordinary communicators from extraordinary ones. He unpacks research from psychology, neuroscience, and sociology to show that great communicators don’t just share facts, they connect, ask better questions, and listen with intent.

We’ve taken the core ideas from the book and shaped them into a workshop just for the Flinders community. You’ll learn six practical skills that can help you:

Prepare for the conversation – Enter every conversation with confidence by knowing what you want to discuss.

Ask open-ended questions – Transform shallow exchanges into deep, meaningful dialogue.

Get deep – Explore the values and emotions that truly drive people.

Match the other person’s mood and energy – Build connection by aligning with the other person’s emotional state.

Prove you are listening – Show your conversation partner that you genuinely value what they have to say.

Find common ground – Strengthen relationships by identifying shared experiences and values.

You’ll not only hear about the skills, you’ll get to practise them in a relaxed and supportive setting.

💬 Who’s it for?

This workshop is primarily for Flinders students, but we also welcome staff who are keen to sharpen their communication skills.

Whether you’re chatty or quiet, outgoing or reserved, there’s something in this for everyone.

This is the first time we’re running the Supercommunicators workshop in 2025, so come be part of the inaugural group! You’ll help shape how we run it in future, and get first dibs on some useful, lifelong skills.

  1. Hi, sorry I think there may have been a typo with the dates in May. Just wondering if the workshop is on Monday 12th and Monday 19th or Tuesday 13th and Tuesday 20th?

    1. Ahh – well spotted Olivia. That is my mistake.

The dates are correct (13th and 20th May) and I have amended the entry to read Tuesdays.

Apologies for confusion and appreciate you letting me know 🙂
