Resilience can be built and we can show you how

Overview: The modern student confronts many challenges and pressures. Managing those challenges and pressures requires psychological tools. We have a program at HCDS & Oasis that teaches some of those tools. Sign up today. Details in post. Reading time 2 minutes.

The Be Well Plan is a mental health program that teaches people psychological tools to reduce distress, build resilience and improve wellbeing. It was built by the fine minds at Be Well Co.

Flinders has a strong connection with Be Well Co, meaning we can offer the program for free to students.

The next Be Well Plan kicks off on the 16th August and runs for five consecutive Tuesdays from 3pm to 5pm. It is being run online via Collaborate so as long as you have an internet connection and connected device (mobile, laptop, tablet, desktop) you can join in. To join, just email me – gareth.furber@flinders.edu.au – and let me know you want to join.

More detailed information about the program can be found here.

In short: over the 5 sessions you’ll learn about mental health, gain some psychological insights into how the mind works, discover evidence-based activities that help grow your mental health and get a chance to experiment with embedding them into your everyday life. All this in the company of others on the same path.

The program has been running here at Flinders for a while. The Randomized Controlled Trial supporting its effectiveness was actually conducted here. That is why we know that students benefit from it.

I also suspect (but will have to prove in future trials) that participation in the program helps students with their studies as well.

So if you are looking to make some investments in your mental health, this is a great opportunity.
